The National Centre for Involvement is hosting a two-day conference in London to highlight the progress being made in patient and public involvement. The conference will include presentations to the winners of the Centre’s “Involvement to Impact Awards.” More than 130 entries have been submitted in seven categories including Primary Care, Mental Health Care, involvement of Seldom Heard Groups, and Hospital Care.

Into the new era, primary care under the spotlight

The shortage of doctors in deprived areas is opening primary care to the private sector and paving the way to a very different health service, says Dr David Colin-Thome, National Clinical Director for Primary Care. Many GPs are still not prepared to work in deprived areas but will readily complain that the private sector is taking over their livelihood, Dr Colin-Thome told health managers at Primary Care 2007.
